The Pergola Essential is a manual aluminium louvre pergola with a hand crank roof. The simpler, lower priced sibling of Pergola Classic.
Close the louvres and stay dry. Rain drains through the posts. Powder coated aluminium is rated up to 110 km/h. The crank needs no electricity for the roof. Perimeter LED and a heater are optional extras, not built in as standard.

What is a manual louvre pergola?
A manual louvre pergola has a hand crank drive that opens and closes the roof louvres. You adjust shade and weather cover without a motor or remote.
When should I choose Essential instead of Classic?
Choose Essential if you want a lower price, do not need a remote or motor, and are happy with optional retrofit LED rather than built in lighting. Choose Classic for electric remote control, built in LED, more sizes and higher snow load ratings.
Is the pergola weatherproof?
Yes. Powder coated aluminium resists rust and UV, and the roof is waterproof when the louvres are fully closed. Rainwater drains through the integrated gutters and posts.
Can I use it all year round?
Yes. It gives summer shade and stands up to rain and moderate snow loads. See the wind and snow load table by size (65 to 120 kg/m² depending on size).
Do I need planning permission?
Rules vary by local authority and structure size. Many lightweight outdoor structures do not require permission, but check with your local planning office before installation.

How does the hand crank work?
A mechanical crank turns the louvres smoothly up to about 115°. No electricity is required for the roof drive.
Does Essential include LED lighting?
No. Unlike Classic, LED is not built in as standard. You can add optional perimeter LED lighting on the product page.
What is it made from?
Powder coated aluminium. Durable, stable and needing little upkeep compared with timber that wants regular treatment.
Is it fully waterproof?
Yes, when the louvres are fully closed. Water is guided through the posts so the area underneath stays dry.
Any wall-mount restrictions?
Yes. On wall mounted installs, louvres run parallel to the wall only, not perpendicular.

How complex is assembly?
Designed for DIY with clear instructions. Experienced DIYers typically assemble standard sizes in about 3–5 hours. No electrician is needed for the louvre drive.
What electrical supply is needed?
None for the louvres. A 230V supply is only needed if you add optional LED lighting or a heater.
What surfaces can it be mounted on?
Concrete, stone, timber decking and prepared foundations, subject to suitable fixings.

How long is the warranty?
5 years on the aluminium structure.
What does the warranty cover?
Material and manufacturing defects. Damage from misuse or extreme weather outside normal use is excluded.
Can I return the pergola?

Wind Resistance and Snow Load
The Pergola Essential is built for outdoor use through every season. Its aluminium frame and manual louvred roof are rated for wind speeds of up to 110 km/h, including storm force conditions, and carry a snow load of 65 to 120 kg/m² depending on the size.
Closed, the louvres form a waterproof roof that drains rainwater through the integrated gutters and posts. No electricity is required for the louvre drive.

The service was fantastic. I'd especially highlight how engaged the support team were they answered every question quickly and immediately arranged replacements for two missing parts. I've rarely seen a company live the "customer is king" motto like this.

The pergola looks lovely we're very happy with it. Delivery arrived on time, though it did take a little while. Allow more time for assembly than you might expect. We had a fault with a side screen remote, but it was replaced without fuss and they even sent a spare motor just in case excellent customer service. We're satisfied and considering ordering another side screen.

Returning the screen even after four months was no problem we even received an upgraded replacement. Everything fits now. Very kind, friendly customer care staff who dealt with our issue competently. Many thanks.

Delivery was only announced by phone by the haulage firm, and only one driver came. An email two days beforehand would help. It would be useful if paper assembly instructions were included. One part was drilled incorrectly so a screw didn't fit, and another hole for the drive rail didn't go through properly, so there's no washer on that point now.
