The Pergola Essential is a manual aluminium louvre pergola with a hand-crank roof — the simpler, lower-priced sibling of Pergola Classic.
Choose your size, colour and mount type. Wall-mounted installs have louvres running parallel to the wall only. Select height and assembly options on the product page.
A manual louvre pergola has a hand-crank drive that opens and closes the roof louvres. You adjust shade and weather protection without a motor or remote.
Choose Essential if you want a lower price, do not need a remote/motor, and are happy with optional (retrofit) LED rather than integrated lighting. Choose Classic for electric remote control, integrated LED, larger size options and higher snow-load ratings.
Yes. Powder-coated aluminium is rust-resistant and UV-resistant, and the roof is waterproof when the louvres are fully closed. Rainwater drains through the integrated gutters and posts.
Yes. It provides summer shade and stands up to rain and moderate snow loads — see the wind and snow load table by size (65–120 kg/m² depending on size).
Rules vary by local authority and structure size. Many lightweight outdoor structures do not require permission, but we recommend checking with your local planning office before installation.
A mechanical crank turns the louvres smoothly up to about 115°. No electricity is required for the roof drive.
No. Unlike Classic, LED is not integrated as standard. You can add optional perimeter LED lighting on the product page.
Powder-coated aluminium — durable, stable and low-maintenance compared with timber that needs regular treatment.
Yes, when the louvres are fully closed. Water is guided through the posts so the area underneath stays dry.
Yes. On wall-mounted installs, louvres run parallel to the wall only (not perpendicular).
Designed for DIY with clear instructions. Experienced DIYers typically assemble standard sizes in about 3–5 hours. No electrician is needed for the louvre drive.
None for the louvres. A 230V supply is only needed if you add optional LED lighting or a heater.
Concrete, stone, timber decking and prepared foundations, subject to suitable fixings.
5 years on the aluminium structure.
Material and manufacturing defects. Damage from misuse or extreme weather outside normal use is excluded.
Yes, within your statutory cooling-off period for online purchases, provided the product is unassembled and undamaged. See our returns policy for full details.

*Wind and snow figures are configuration-dependent. In heavy snowfall, tilt louvres toward vertical to reduce roof load.
Engineered for all seasons
The Pergola Essential is engineered for year-round outdoor use. Its aluminium frame and manual louvred roof are rated for wind speeds of up to 110 km/h — storm-force conditions — and carry a snow load of 65 – 120 kg/m² depending on the size.
Closed, the louvres form a waterproof roof that drains rainwater through the integrated gutters and posts. No electricity is required for the louvre drive.

Snow load, depending on size
In heavy snowfall we recommend tilting the louvres to the vertical position to minimise the load on the roof.
