How much does a louvred pergola cost in the UK?

How much does a louvred pergola cost in the UK? With Sunnier, the pergola itself is from £6,459 for a manual Essential and from £7,550 for an electric Classic. That's the price on the website, for your size, in every finish. This guide covers the full picture: the pergola, the extras, installation, the base and the electrics, so you can budget for the whole job.

The short answer

  • Pergola Essential (manual): £6,459 to £7,202, depending on size.
  • Pergola Classic (electric): £7,550 to £11,899, depending on size.
  • Installation by our independent partner: typically from £580 (Essential) or £660 (Classic) inc VAT, quoted separately. Or assemble it yourself.
  • Also budget for: a suitable base, and for Classic, an electrician to provide the power supply.

Prices are the current prices on our product pages, including VAT.

1. The pergola

The biggest part of the cost is the pergola itself, and the main thing that changes the price is size. Finish and mount don't: every size costs the same in anthracite, white or anthracite with white blades, and the same freestanding or wall-mounted.

What's included in the price

Both models include the powder-coated aluminium frame (135 × 135 mm posts, 162 × 162 mm base plates), the louvre roof, integrated gutters that drain through the posts, and a 10-year structure warranty. Classic also includes the electric drive, the wireless remote and a 2-year warranty on the motor and electronics. Optional perimeter LED lighting around the frame is available on both models.

2. Extras

Extra Price
Custom height, Classic only (2,100 to 2,800 mm) £250
Side screens, manual or solar, by side, size and colour From £582 per screen
3 kW outdoor heater with remote £199

You'll see the price of each extra as you add it on the product page.

3. Installation

You have two choices.

  • Do it yourself. Both models are designed for DIY assembly with clear instructions. Essential typically takes experienced DIYers about 3 to 5 hours for standard sizes. Classic typically takes 2 to 3 people a day.
  • Use an independent installer. We can introduce you to our installation partner, who quotes you separately. Typical starting prices are from £580 inc VAT for Essential and from £660 inc VAT for Classic. The final quote can vary with size, extras, site conditions and travel over 20 miles from the nearest installer. Nothing is added to your Sunnier order.

More in our guide to pergola installation.

4. The base

A pergola needs a suitable surface and fixings. Sunnier pergolas can be fixed to concrete, stone, timber decking or prepared foundations. If you already have a sound patio or concrete base, your costs may be low. If not, you may need foundations: where point foundations are used, the recommended size is 600 × 600 × 800 mm. Foundations, paving and decking are not normally part of an installation quote, so get a separate price from a builder or landscaper if you need them.

5. Electrics (Classic only)

Pergola Classic needs a 220 to 230V supply for the motor and LED converter, and we recommend a qualified electrician for the wiring. The cost depends on how far the supply has to run, so ask an electrician to quote. Essential needs no power for the roof, so there's no electrician to budget for unless you add a powered extra such as the heater.

6. Delivery

Delivery is included for mainland Great Britain. Your pergola is made to order and delivered in around 4 to 6 weeks, kerbside or to a safe unloading point near your address. Northern Ireland, islands and remote postcodes may need a separate quotation.

7. Planning permission

Many garden structures don't need planning permission, but rules vary by location and size. If you do need to apply, or want a lawful development certificate for peace of mind, your council charges a fee. See our planning permission guide.

Running costs

Powder-coated aluminium doesn't need painting, staining or sealing. Looking after it means washing it with water and mild soap every 3 to 6 months and keeping the gutters clear. See our Care and Maintenance Guide.

Why louvred pergolas cost what they do

A louvred pergola is a roof you can control, not just a frame. You're paying for a solid aluminium structure rated for wind and snow, a louvre roof that's waterproof when closed, drainage through the posts and, on Classic, a motor and lighting. Sunnier pergolas are designed in Germany, made in the EU and made to order. We sell direct, so there's a shorter path from factory to garden, and the price is clear on the website before you talk to anyone.
